The new VBB website is online!

The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) is a central interface for local public transport in the capital region. More than four million people use the services of the around 36 transport companies affiliated with the VBB every day. The association's goal is to continuously develop the smart networking of buses, trains, and other modes of transport in the city and the countryside.

The new VBB website is online!

The digital presence plays a central role in this. For many users, the VBB website is the first point of contact for connections, tickets, service offers, and information on traffic conditions. To meet this demand, VBB launched a Europe-wide tender for a comprehensive website relaunch.

e-pixler wins the contract for the VBB relaunch

At the end of 2020, e-pixler was selected with great delight as the implementation partner. From January to May 2021, an interdisciplinary team at e-pixler worked at full speed on the implementation. The goal was to realign the entire presence technically, visually, and structurally.

The reduction of existing content was particularly challenging. Around 1,400 pages were analyzed, consolidated, and transferred into a streamlined information architecture with around 300 pages. The result is a significantly clearer and more user-friendly website.

Why TYPO3 is the perfect solution for the VBB

For the implementation of the project, the choice fell on TYPO3 as the content management system. The decision was exactly right for several reasons:

TYPO3 is an open-source system with a long lifespan, an actively maintained community, and a large selection of extensions. This provides investment security and flexibility for future developments.

Thanks to regular security updates and a structured release cycle, TYPO3 also meets high standards for data protection and operational security.
