Brief overview of the most important CMS systems
TYPO3
Many large companies and government institutions have been using TYPO3 for years. Around the open-source software TYPO3, a large pool of service providers has grown: agencies, web hosts, SEO experts. An independent certification ensures a quality standard in the industry. e-pixler has certified TYPO3 developers and has supported the community for years with a Gold Membership.
Payload
Payload is a modern, headless CMS built specifically for developers — without losing sight of the needs of editors. It offers a clean, intuitive admin interface that makes content maintenance extremely easy — even for smaller teams without a large IT department.
WordPress
The days when WordPress was used primarily for blogs are long gone. Today, individuals and large companies alike prefer WordPress for their web presence. The open-source software is created by a large community of contributors.
Headless development
Content is increasingly being consumed via smartphones, AI-enabled voice assistants, or VR headsets. A headless CMS caters to this trend. It acts as a central repository that stores content independently of how it is used.

Web presence – technical foundation completely renewed
TU Berlin decided to relaunch its web presence and sought external support for this. In addition to structure, content, and design, the technical foundation was also to be optimized. e-pixler took over the system in summer 2019 and, together with TU’s IT department, will create the basis for a modern, user-friendly, and competitive online presence.
To give you an idea of the scale: the current content management system is a TYPO3 with 87,410 active pages, 523 domains, and 2,300 editors.
Maintenance effort for the website greatly reduced
It was time for a website relaunch for the Hoffbauer Foundation. In addition to the desire for a fresh “outfit,” the goal was to unite all areas into one large web presence. Previously, visitors were navigating 13 domains. – Our partner agency “boy” was commissioned with the concept and design; e-pixler, as TYPO3 experts, took care of the technical implementation.
Our experts set up a TYPO3 in the currently final LTS version 8.7 and integrated all desired functionalities, including a central document management system, the interactive location map, calendar/appointments, and various forms. They also developed a short evaluation form.
From 13 domains to one shared presence!
Whereas previously six websites with 13 domains had to be maintained, all updates can now be made in one content management system (CMS). e-pixler ensured through meticulously set up redirects that visitors who have bookmarked the old URLs still reach the correct destination the usual way.
In a detailed training session, e-pixler explained to the Hoffbauer editors how they can quickly and effectively enter all content in the TYPO3 backend.
The client
The Hoffbauer Foundation has over 1,000 employees. Together, they support children, young people, and adults in 40 facilities on their educational journey. In addition, they care for and look after seniors in elder care facilities, among other things.
